Am I not understanding this commercial? Sure, I suppose it's amusing, but that's as far as it gets. Maybe it's just me.

Message: Humans are animals
Well yeah. Even without ask.com we'd still be animals. Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe we're so superior that we're not considered animals anymore. However, the talking orangutan in boxers doesn't enforce this message as much as they might think.

Message: Human are not animals when we use tools
So those gorillas that use sticks to fish out termites from mounds are...? And I don't like it when the substitution property can be applied to commercials. By that, I mean if I subsituted any tool in for ask.com, the commercial would still make sense.

So it's true that this commercial made an effect on me. It caused me to think more than I had to. But it was a confused kind of thinking that I wouldn't be bothered to do had I not been sitting in front of my computer with nothing else to do. Any other time, I wouldn't have given it another thought.
