This was on the side of a moving van I saw out the window. I was so thoroughly amused by it. I don't remember the company because I didn't get that in the picture, but if I did, I would want to use them to help me move just because the side of the truck is so amusing.
Sometimes, it's the little things that influence people.
I'm mildly intrigued by the new Gap commercial that's been running constantly on tv. By mildly intriged, I mean that it amuses me but does not make me want to buy jeans any time soon. I don't go out to buy jeans unless I need to, but maybe, if Gap is lucky, I'll have that commercial in mind when I'm considering which brand to get.
I like the part at the very end when the logo comes up. I like how it fits Gap's image in that it's hip yet slightly artsy and interactive. And the logo interacts with the rest of the commercial.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it disturbs my Daily Show watching experience, but any commercial that runs during this time slot shares this annoying trait.
Am I not understanding this commercial? Sure, I suppose it's amusing, but that's as far as it gets. Maybe it's just me.
Message: Humans are animals Well yeah. Even without ask.com we'd still be animals. Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe we're so superior that we're not considered animals anymore. However, the talking orangutan in boxers doesn't enforce this message as much as they might think.
Message: Human are not animals when we use tools So those gorillas that use sticks to fish out termites from mounds are...? And I don't like it when the substitution property can be applied to commercials. By that, I mean if I subsituted any tool in for ask.com, the commercial would still make sense.
So it's true that this commercial made an effect on me. It caused me to think more than I had to. But it was a confused kind of thinking that I wouldn't be bothered to do had I not been sitting in front of my computer with nothing else to do. Any other time, I wouldn't have given it another thought.
This is just a place where I, an undergraduate marketing major, will talk about anything marketing or advertising related that may affect my life. I'm not sure what direction this blog will take or if I'll continue using it, but here we go.
